Multi-Firm Design

We often partner with other design teams to support a project. From facilities assessments to accelerated schedules, we help the project meet its goals. 

DFW Terminal D
Automated People Movers

IDD Architecture supported the design and construction of the world class Automated People Mover (APM), an airport wide train system designed to interface with, and facilitate passenger transfer between existing terminals. The team also participated in the terminal integration project where the new APM terminals were integrated with existing terminals.

As Production Architects, we helped the interior design of the International Terminal D's fifth floor club space for foreign airlines. These were part of over $2 billion capital improvement project at the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport.

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART)
Red & Blue Line Extension

This project lengthened all train stations platforms beyond downtown Dallas to accommodate a three-car consist instead of two. This required the addition of minimum of 90 feet and level-boarding ramp treatment, nicknamed a 'minim-hump,' to each platform. Task included designing and documenting most ground-level stations along the Red Line north of and included Eight & Corinth Station. Specifically, and proceeding north, these were Cedars, LBJ/Central, Arapaho Center, Galatyn Park, City Line/Bush, Downtown Plano and Parker Road Station as well as assisting in the generation of standardized drawings of common elements relevant to all stations within the project scope.

Museum of Natural History at Fair Park
Facilities Assessment

Eighty-seven years ago, the museum opened its doors as part of the Texas Centennial. The museum's "classic modern" exterior was built with Cordova limestone from Austin, Texas. The downstairs lobby is faced with native Texas shell stone, which once formed part of a prehistoric ocean floor, contains innumerable fossil seashells.  Other sections of the museum were built from rock brought in from Italy, Vermont, France and anywhere "the finest and most beautiful materials could be found."

When the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, opened in 2013, The Dallas Museum of Natural History closed. In the last few years, the City of Dallas is still considering different opportunities for the building's future use.  The team of idd architecture worked with Fair Park's Master Planning committee to prepare a facilities assessment for the building. The team took great care to recommend conservative maintenance and repairs to preserve the longevity and the majestic beauty of this historic building.

Silver Line 

As a project architect in a multi firm engagement, our team was responsible for the Downtown Carrollton, Knoll Trail, Cityline/Bush, 12th Street (Ground Level) and Shiloh Road stations. This project is a 26-mile light rail redevelopment of the original Cotton Belt Line beginning at a shared TexRail station within D/FW Airport and terminating in East Plano. Each platform accommodates a three-car commuter train.  All platforms will allow for level-boarding throughout their length.

Cotton Bowl leaders feared they might lose the Red River Rivalry which prompted City of Dallas and Texas State Fair  officials to expand the Cotton Bowl’s capacity and improving amenities. Part of a multi-firm contract, idd architects provided design documents for the bathrooms, concessions, and locker rooms.  Working in conjunction with the team, they updated security, ADA, safety and fixtures throughout the almost 80 year old stadium.
